Nikoi Private Island – a short journey from Singapore and 8km off the east coast of Bintan, Indonesia – has added three pool villas and a Mediterranean restaurant to its barefoot luxury concept.

Each of the island’s 18 secluded villas utilises local driftwood with vernacular rooftops constructed of ‘alang alang’ grass.

The new beachfront pool villas are the first in Nikoi’s collection to boast private pools. The two-bedroom villas comprise a master bedroom upstairs and a twin downstairs, both of which have ensuite bathrooms.

Nikoi Island is home to two dining spaces, each comprising of a nine-metre communal dining table made from driftwood and white sandy floors.

New this season – Biru, meaning ‘blue’ in Bahasa – is a Mediterranean sharing-style concept, which showcases fresh and unprocessed ingredients sourced from markets in Bintan and the island’s organic farm.

Nikoi Island also participates alongside The Island Foundation to create opportunities for children living in the Bintan Regency, Riau Islands region.

Founded in 2010 by the owners of Nikoi Island and Cempedak Island, the foundation works to continue improving learning ecosystems in coastal communities and provide them with opportunities.
