Low-cost Indian carrier IndiGo will resume operating daily services from Delhi to Hong Kong in August, a route suspended three years ago when Covid-19 hit.
The reinstatement of the service comes a part of the airline’s major route expansion across Asia.
Africa is also in the mix with flights to Nairobi in Kenya.
Direct flights from Mumbai to Jakarta will launch in late July / early August, while Delhi will be connected in August to Tbilisi and Baku, and in September to Tashkent and Almaty, all in Central Asia.
Pieter Elbers, CEO, IndiGo said, “The addition of these exciting new destinations, new direct flight routes, enhanced flight frequencies, and strategic codeshare partnerships, will help us expand our footprint across four continents with Africa and Central Asia being penetrated for the first time.”
In other airline news, starting from 1 July 2023, Bangkok Airways will resume international service between Koh Samui and Hong Kong with three flights per week (Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday).
