Hot on the heels of its recently announced Hong Kong sailings, Resorts World Cruises is adding Kaohsiung as a destination and homeport for its soon-to-launch Taiwan sailings.

Hong Kong to Kaohsiung

From 2 April 2023, the Resorts World One will start sailing from Hong Kong to Kaohsiung with 3-night itineraries departing Sundays, and 2-night cruises departing Wednesdays. Sailings start from HK$1,299 (US$165) per guest.

Cruisers departing from Hong Kong on Sundays will have the option of disembarking at Kaohsiung on Mondays for a 3-night land stay, following which, they can board the ship again on Thursdays to make it back to Hong Kong on Friday.

Kaohsiung to Hong Kong

Kaohsiung will also become a double homeport for Resorts World One. Travellers in Taiwan can board the ship in Kaohsiung from 4 April onwards, starting with a special 2-night cruise to Hong Kong.

Resorts World One will subsequently offer weekly round-trip cruises to Hong Kong that include the 3-night cruise departing on Mondays and the 4-night cruise departing on Thursdays. Sailings start from NT$6,900 (US$227) per pax.

Passengers departing from Kaohsiung on Thursdays 4-night cruises will also have the option of disembarking at Hong Kong on Fridays to explore the city for two nights before getting back up the ship on Sunday to arrive in Kaohsiung on Monday.

Dual homeport model for Kaohsiung, Hong Kong

“Resorts World Cruises pioneered the dual homeport ship model for Singapore and Kuala Lumpur (via Port Klang) with the Genting Dream, bringing increased tourists and economic benefits to both destinations,” said Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay, executive chairman of Resorts World Cruises.

“Similarly, Hong Kong and Kaohsiung will both benefit from increased number of passengers carried by Resorts World One and increased fly-cruise and rail-cruise passengers, who will have pre and post cruise stays in either destination,” he added.

The Kaohsiung Cruise Terminal has recently seen the addition of an integrated shopping, dining and entertainment district that is being completed with a waterfront boardwalk, connecting it with the Maritime Cultural and Pop Music Center.
