MACAU - The December Macao International Film Festival and Awards is set to roll out the red carpet for the industry elite.
The fourth edition of the popular International Film Festival and Awards: Macao (IFFAM) will take place Dec. 5-10.
This year's festivals will carry special significance in that they will coincide with Macao's 20th anniversary as a Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China,– Helen Wong, general manager of the Macao Government Tourism Office - Australia and New Zealand (MGTO)
Judges will be jetting in from all over the world for the event, including Peter Ho-Sun Chuan, Chinese film director, producer and screenwriter; Tom Cullen, multi-awarded Welsh actor; Ellen R. Eliasoph, president and CEO of Village Roadshow Entertainment Group Asia, and Dian Sastrowardoyo, Indonesian actor and producer.
Ambassadors for the festival include Indian director, actor and celebrity Karan Johar, South Korea’s filmmaker Kim Yong-Hwa and Chinese director Wang Xiaoshuai,
Films up for awards include Bellbird, written and directed by Maori schoolteacher Hamish Bennet and Buoyancy, created by Australian writer-director Rodd Rathjen.
This is just one in the plethora of upcoming festivals and events to take place in Macau in the next few weeks, with the 19th Macao Food Festival running until Nov. 24 and the four-day 66th Macau Grand Prix, starting Nov. 14
In December, options include the 9th Macao Shopping Festival for bargains galore, the sound and light shows of the Macao Light Festival, and the Macao International Parade brightening up the streets.
“This year's festivals will carry special significance in that they will coincide with Macao's 20th anniversary as a Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China,” said Helen Wong, general manager of the Macao Government Tourism Office - Australia and New Zealand (MGTO).
“Visitors can prepare for plenty of colour and excitement in coming weeks, much of the action outdoors and free.”
