No
longer the domain of US and Russian astronauts, space is opening up for
luxury travellers thanks to a partnership between the largest community
of travel agencies worldwide and world's first luxury spaceflight
experience company.
The Global Travel Collection (GTC), part of Internova Travel Group,
and Space Perspective, will take luxury travel to the next level - some
30km above the Earth aboard Space Perspective's Spaceship Neptune.
Spaceship Neptune is propelled by a 213m-tall SpaceBalloon, ensuring a
smooth ride for those lifting off for a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Travel advisors with GTC brands can book their clients on a six-hour
spaceflight with the eye-watering price of US$125,000 per person.
Lift-off is planned for 2025.
“We are always looking for new and unique opportunities for our
advisors to offer the traveller who has been everywhere,” said Angie
Licea, president of GTC. A spaceflight certainly fits those criteria.
“Until now, this historic opportunity has been available only to a
select few. I know that many of our clients will want to sign up, and we
are thrilled to offer this adventure to them through our partnership
with Space Perspective.”
Neptune's pressurised Space Lounge is designed for comfort. There's a
fully stocked bar — with champagne for a toast at the edge of space —
and a bathroom for nervous fliers.
The entire experience will be captured with both interior and
exterior video and still photographs. Onboard WiFi will allow passengers
to livestream their flight to friends and family.
