Meet Cavaliere Giovanni Viterale, a seasoned hotelier who effortlessly thrives in his role as general manager.

With nearly four decades of experience in the hospitality industry, including prestigious positions in renowned Asian hotel groups like Fullerton Hotels & Resorts and Sino Hotels Holdings, Viterale brings a wealth of expertise to his current role as cluster general manager at Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort & Spa and the highly anticipated Raffles Sentosa Resort & Spa.

While embracing the serene ambiance of Sentosa island after transitioning from Singapore's bustling city centre in 2022, Viterale’s commitment to delivering exceptional hospitality remains unwavering. At Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort & Spa, nestled atop a gentle cliff overlooking the South China Sea, Viterale finds inspiration in the open spaces, fresh air, and restorative surroundings.

The expansive 215-key property, which also houses the Deloitte University Asia Pacific, seamlessly combines work and relaxation. With meeting spaces surrounded by lush greenery, corporate groups enjoy the flexibility of conducting conferences in the ballroom while rejuvenating during coffee breaks in the refreshing outdoors.

"It's a different kind of paradise here, where you are surrounded by open air, trees, flowers, vegetation, birds, and peacocks. You feel more creative and sharper," Viterale shares.

Viterale's appreciation for the resort environment stems from his roots in Salerno, on Italy's Amalfi Coast. The Cliff restaurant, overlooking the sea at Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort & Spa, reminds him of special moments spent on the picturesque Amalfi Coast.

While Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort & Spa exudes a laid-back island vibe, Viterale states that the principles of exceptional service remain consistent. "You adapt accordingly. But there should not be a different level of standards, whether it’s a resort or city hotel. I don't wear a tie, but I still have to deliver that level of service that customers are expecting," he emphasises.

Meanwhile, Viterale's hands are full as he also oversees the launch of the 62-villa Raffles Sentosa Resort & Spa, scheduled to welcome guests in early 2024. With his unwavering commitment to exacting standards, Viterale is poised to make Raffles Sentosa Resort & Spa and Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort & Spa, which are both owned and developed by the Royal Group, into iconic symbols of hospitality on the island.
