Bintan Resorts and TriFactor Asia have announced the return of the
Bintan Triathlon by TriFactor in 2023 after a three-year hiatus.
Scheduled to take place on 21 October 2023 at Lagoi Bay, Bintan, this
event marks its comeback to the world triathlon series. Athletes from
around the world will gather to participate in a challenging test of
endurance, featuring swimming, cycling, and running disciplines. In
addition to the triathlon, a Century Ride competition will be introduced
on 22 October 2023, catering to cycling enthusiasts.
The revival of the Bintan Triathlon by TriFactor in 2023 marks a
significant moment for sports tourism in Bintan. The event was last held
in 2019 but was discontinued due to the pandemic.
Abdul Wahab, group general manager of Bintan Resorts Cakrawala,
expressed excitement about bringing the return of the event, emphasising
the support from the Governor of Riau Island Province and the Head of
Regency of Bintan.
“Bintan also promises to be the ideal training ground in the run-up
to the big day, with miles of beaches and 100 km of good roads for safe
cycling without a single traffic light in sight,” Wahab added.
Elvin Ting, managing director and founder of Orange Room – parent
company of TriFactor, says that the collaboration between Bintan Resorts
and TriFactor aims to revive sports tourism in the Bintan.
The Triathlon, taking place on 21 October, will feature various
competitions including the Sprint distance, Olympic distance, Enduro
distance, and Kids Splash & Dash. On 22 October, cycling enthusiasts
can participate in the Gran Fondo Ride, which offers a scenic 120km
route through Bintan's tropical paradise, as well as a 60km ride for
those seeking a competitive experience.
