Royal Caribbean Group's president and CEO, Jason Liberty; chairman
Richard Fain; and Silversea's president, Barbara Muckermann, were given
an exclusive preview of Silversea's latest addition, Silver Nova, at the
Meyer Werft shipyard in Eemshaven, Netherlands.
The Silver
Nova, the 12th ship in Silversea's fleet, represents a significant
milestone in Royal Caribbean Group's journey towards achieving
Destination Net Zero. Silversea Cruises is calling this vessel the ‘the most environmentally conscious ultra-luxury cruise ship ever built’.
Meyer Werft’s managing directors, Jan and Bernard Meyer, warmly
welcomed the Royal Caribbean Group executives and provided them with a
comprehensive tour of the vessel.
Royal Caribbean Group’s Liberty expressed his enthusiasm for the
innovative ship, stating, "Innovation drives our mission to provide the
best vacations responsibly, and Silver Nova embodies this commitment in
every way. This stunning ship revolutionises ultra-luxury cruising and
represents an important step on our sustainability journey.”
Barbara Muckermann, president of Silversea, said that the vessel with
its “industry-leading approach to sustainability” aligns with the
brand's vision and fleet evolution, “demonstrating the extent to which
our guests benefit from our brand being part of Royal Caribbean Group.”
Silver Nova is scheduled to embark on its maiden voyage on 14 August,
departing from Fusina (Venice) for a seven-day round-trip journey.
Following its Mediterranean exploration, the ship will cross the
Atlantic to offer voyages in the Caribbean and Central America. On 4
January 2024, Silver Nova will commence its grand 71-day South America
Voyage.
