In a move that is set to provide a major boost to the tourism
industry of Penghu in Taiwan, the Resorts World One cruise ship has made
its inaugural arrival at the island on 11 April.
The Resorts World One, which recently launched its homeport
deployment from Kaohsiung on 4 April 2023, will arrive every Tuesday at
Penghu, making 30 calls to the island before the end of November 2023.
During
the inaugural arrival of the Resorts World One, guests received a warm
welcome ceremony from local authorities. Representatives from Resorts
World Cruises, including its president, Michael Goh, and vice president –
sales (Taiwan), Victoria Hsu, were in attendance, alongside Penghu
county mayor Chen Guang-Fu and other officials.
Goh expressed his excitement about the new partnership with Penghu
and the opportunity to showcase the island's beauty to a wider audience.
"The addition of Penghu as a destination for the Resorts World One
will enable us to showcase and promote the island to a wider target
audience, which is expected to bring over 60,000 tourists that will
contribute towards tourism receipts for the island”, said Goh.
Penghu is renowned for its beautiful white sandy beaches and crystal
clear waters, making it an ideal destination for a range of seaside
activities such as snorkelling, fishing, and island-hopping boat tours.
The island is also rich in cultural heritage, with visitors able to
explore multiple attractions, including the Tianhou Temple, Taiwan's
oldest and finest temple, and the Erkan historical village with its
traditional-style houses.
