Hong Kongers could travel to Macau as soon as mid-July, as the two governments are reportedly in earnest discussion of the proposed scheme.

Under this 'blue health code' scheme, Hong Kongers may skip mandatory hotel quarantine in Macau, but they must produce confirmation of two vaccine doses, and hold a negative Covid-19 test within the last 48 hours.

These blue-code travellers will be able to enter hotels and integrated resorts, but have to remain within designated hotel floors and gaming areas.

Some 51 hotels have agreed to welcome these Hong Kong visitors, said the Macau Government Tourism Office.

Ponte 16, which operates under SJM Holdings, has indicated that the property is ready to join the scheme, reported GGRAsia on 5 July.

The daily inbound quota, according to brokerage Sanford C. Bernstein, would be 3,000 during the initial reopening period.

As of end June, Hong Kong's fully vaccinated number stands at 25% of its population, while more than 35% of Macau's residents have received at least one Covid-19 jab.
