Tourism Malaysia and Tourism Selangor recently joined hands to host a 4D/3N fam trip for Singapore travel agents to discover Selangor's diverse offerings.

A group of 25 travel agents and four media representatives from Singapore attended the "Meet the Experts" B2B event at Petaling Jaya's Le Meridien Hotel. They joined 44 local representatives, including travel agents, hoteliers, and tourism providers from Selangor.

The event focused on fostering partnerships, securing contracts, and developing attractive travel packages tailored to Singaporean tourists.

Agents had the opportunity to explore various tourism products, including agrotourism, unique homestay experiences, diverse culinary delights, cultural heritage, historical attractions, countryside cycling tours, and picturesque locations for leisure travellers seeking Instagram-worthy moments.

Musa Yusof, deputy director-general (promotion) at Tourism Malaysia, expressed optimism about the Singaporean market's recovery. With increasing value-consciousness and a preference for nearby destinations, he expects the market to rebound to pre-pandemic levels.

Since reopening borders in 2022, Malaysia has welcomed 10.1 million international tourists, with Singapore contributing 5.2 million arrivals alone.

Malaysia has set ambitious targets for 2023, aiming to attract 16.1 million international tourists and achieve RM26.8 billion (US$5.92 billion) in tourism receipts.
