Singapore’s travel players rallied around their fellow industry players amidst cheers and thunderous applause when the winners of the Singapore Tourism Awards (STA) 2022 were announced on Tuesday, 24 May.

The award ceremony, organised by the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) at Shangri-La Hotel, made a bang in its return to an in-person event this year, following a virtual edition in 2021. The awards exemplified the resilience, innovation and service excellence that Singapore’s travel industry continuously displayed over the course of the pandemic.

As Singapore stands ready to meet the travel rebound now that the country has fully reopened to the world, Keith Tan, chief executive of STB believes it is fitting that the industry came together for the first time in almost three years to honour “those who showed courage and resilience, and those who seized opportunities amid adversity.”

Describing 2021 as a “watershed year”, Keith recounts the industry applying their learnings “from the early days of the pandemic, pushed the boundaries to appeal to locals, and put motion many of the products and plans that will drive and transform our industry for years to come.”

Minister of state, Alvin Tan, expressed his gratitude for the travel industry coming together to transform Singapore’s tourism landscape into a vibrant one by curating new, innovative and authentic tourism products and experiences, adding that the government will continue standing with the tourism industry to render their support during this transitional time.

The Singapore Tourism Awards 2022 featured 81 shortlisted finalists across 24 award categories, with 35 individuals and organisations bagging home the trophy.

The Mandai Wildlife Reserve and Royal Albatross clinched the top spots in the Outstanding Attraction Experience category, while The Red Oil Lamp: Chinatown Stories Alive! And Voices: Memories of Kampong Lorong Buangkok by Let’s Go Tour were named the top tour experiences.

Both Parkroyal Collection Marina Bay, Singapore and The Clan Hotel Singapore was feted in the Outstanding Hotel Experience category, whereas Jaan, as well as Arbora Hilltop Garden & Bistro and The Brewerkz Company were named among the best dining experiences in Singapore.
